lnstallation

a Be sure the pinion shaft and the steering shaft are

aligned; the joint should sllp on freely.

lf not, reposition the steering rack to correct the

misalignment.

a Coat the interior of the steering joint grommet with

1. Guide the steering shaft through the engine com-

partment bulkhead. Align the bolt hole in the steer-

ing joint with the slot in the steering shaft, and in-

sert the shaft into the steering joint.

SREERIITG JOINT

Slip the upper end of the steering joint onto the steering

shafi (line up the bolt hole with the groove around the shaft)

and inslall the steering ioint bolt.

Installthe steering column assembly with the nuts,

bolts and column holder.

Connect the ignition switch connector.

13.9 kg-m, 28 lb-ftl
