Chapter 6
Audio clipping at far site
when using an external
wireless microphone.
Local audio can be heard
when speaking in the
microphone.
An echo is heard at the
near site when speaking.
Near site or far site can not
hear or see the VCR audio.

Video

Symptom
Picture is blank on the
main monitor.
Same picture is seen on
first and second
monitor.
Picture freezes
frequently during a call.

Audio input is overdriven on the
ViewStation FX or VS4000.
The monitor or audio amplifier is
connected to the VCR audio output.
Far site microphone pod is too close
to the audio speaker.
The far site audio volume may be too
loud.
VCR input is not selected.
Cause
System goes to "sleep" mode after
3 minutes of inactivity.
Only one monitor is enabled.
Monitors are connected to the
same output. Monitor has a
composite as well as an S-Video
output.
Network line transmission errors
or IP LAN traffic is too high. Check
the error count under the
Diagnostics menu or try a lower
speed IP LAN call.

Turn down output of wireless
microphone. Put the ViewStation FX or
VS4000 in local loop and adjust
microphone output until you hear audio
coming back clear and crisp with no
clipping.
Connect the monitor or audio amplifier to
the monitor audio out of the ViewStation
FX or VS4000.
At the far site, make sure the
microphone pod is placed away from the
audio speaker.
Turn down the audio volume at the far
site.
Turn on the VCR input by selecting the
NEAR key twice and selecting the VCR
icon.
Solution
Pick up the remote control. System
wakes up.
Enable ViewStation FX or VS4000
for two monitors on the Monitor
Setup screen.
Connect Monitor 2 to the Monitor 2
connection on the rear panel of the
ViewStation FX or VS4000.
Check your system by Near End
Loop test under the Diagnostics
menu. If the picture does not freeze,
tell the far site to perform the same
test. If the picture freezes there are
line errors on your ISDN lines.
You can also test this by placing a
video call to an ISDN loopback
number provided by your service
provider.
