Removing the valves

Remove the complete head from the engine (Removing the engine
heads).
Remove the timing pulleys (Removing the cylinder head pulley/fixed
tensioner).
Disconnect the spark plug caps.
Slide out the secondary air pipe (Removing the secondary air
system).
Remove the cylinder head covers, the camshaft supports and the camshafts (Removing the
camshafts).
Raise the opening rocker arm (1) and remove the opening shim (2) from the valves with a pair of pliers.
Push down the closing rocker arms (3) and (4) and the closing shim (6).
Remove the split rings (5) from the valves with a magnetic screwdriver. Extract the closing shims (6) from
the valve using a pair of pliers.
