VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT
S Measure the valve clearance using a feeler
gauge 2 .
NOTE:
S Record the measured reading if the clearance is
incorrect.
S Rotate the crankshaft 270_ counterclockwise
and check the clearance of piston #2.
NOTE:
Make sure that the camshaft lobes are opposite
each other when the piston is at TDC on the com-
pression stroke.
9. Adjust:
S Valve clearance
Adjustment steps:
S Loosen the timing chain tensioner cap bolt.
S Remove the timing chain tensioner 1 , timing
chain guide (upper) 2 , timing chain guide (ex-
haust side) 3 and camshaft caps.
NOTE:
Remove the camshaft cap bolts in a crisscross
pattern from the outside working inwards.
S Remove the camshaft (intake and exhaust 1 ).
NOTE:
Attach a wire 2 to the timing chain to prevent it
from falling into the crankcase.
