CYLINDER AND PISTON
3. Measure:
S Side clearance
Out of specification ! Replace piston and
rings as a set.
NOTE:
Eliminate the carbon deposits from the piston ring
grooves and rings before measuring the side
clearance.
Side clearance:
4. Position:
S Piston ring
(into cylinder)
NOTE:
Push the ring with the piston crown so that the ring
will be at a right angle to the cylinder bore.

5. Measure:
S End gap
Out of specification ! Replace.
NOTE:
You cannot measure the end gap on the expander
spacer of the oil control ring. If the oil control ring
rails show excessive gap, replace all three rings.
End gap:

0.035 X 0.070 mm
2nd ring:
0.035 X 0.070 mm
Top ring:
0.30 X 0.45 mm
2nd ring:
0.30 X 0.45 mm
Oil ring:
0.20 X 0.70 mm
