3. Charging voltage
S Connect the engine tachometer to spark plug
lead #1.
S Connect the pocket tester (DC 20 V) to the bat-
tery.
Tester (+) lead ! Battery (+) lead
Tester (–) lead ! Battery (–) lead
S Start the engine, accelerate to about, 5,000
r/min then check the measured voltage.
S Check battery voltage.
Charging voltage = measured
voltage – terminal voltage:
Difference of 0.5 X 2.5 V
NOTE:
Use a fully charged battery.
4. Stator coil resistance
S Disconnect A.C. magneto coupler from the
wire harness.
S Connect the pocket tester "Ω
coils.
S Measure the stator coil resistance.
Stator coil resistance:
0.23 X 0.35 Ω at 20_C

Replace battery.
