CYLINDER AND PISTON

REMOVAL

1. Remove:
S Piston circlips 1
S Piston pins 2
S Pistons 3
NOTE:
S Before removing the piston pin clip, cover the
crankcase with a clean rag to prevent the piston
pin clip from falling into the crankcase cavity.
S Put identification marks on each piston head for
reference during reinstallation.
S Before removing the piston pin, deburr the clip
groove and pin hole area. If the piston pin groove
is deburred and piston pin is still difficult to re-
move, use the piston pin puller 4 .
Piston pin puller:
CAUTION:
Do not use a hammer to drive the piston pin
out.

INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
S Cylinder and piston walls
Vertical scratches ! Rebore or replace cylin-
der and piston.
2. Measure:
S Piston-to-cylinder clearance
Measurement steps:
1st step:
S Measure the cylinder bore "C" with a cylinder
bore gauge.
NOTE:
Measure the cylinder bore "C" in parallel to and at
right angles to the crankshaft. Then, find the aver-
age of the measurements.
