STEERING HEAD

INSTALLATION

1. Tighten:
S Ring nuts (lower and upper)
Tightening steps:
S Tighten the ring nut (lower) 1 using the ring nut
wrench 2 .
Ring nut:
48 Nm (4.8 mSkg)
NOTE:
Set the torque wrench to the ring nut wrench so
that they form a right angle.
Ring nut wrench:
90890-01403
S Turn the steering stem left and right for several
times.
S Loosen the ring nut completely and retighten it to
specification.
Ring nut:
16 Nm (1.6 mSkg)
WARNING
Do not overtighten.
S Check the steering stem by turning lock to lock. If
there is any binding, remove the steering stem
assembly and inspect the steering bearings.
S Install the plate washer.
S Install the ring nut (upper).
S Finger tighten the ring nut, then align the slots of
both ring nuts. If not aligned, hold the lower ring
nut and tighten the other until they are aligned.
S Install the special washer.
NOTE:
Make sure that the special washer tab is placed in
the slots.
