TRANSMISSION, SHIFT CAM AND SHIFT FORK

INSPECTION

1. Inspect:
S Shift fork cam follower 1
S Shift fork pawl 2
Scoring/Bends/Wear/Damage ! Replace.
2. Inspect:
S Guide bar
Roll the guide bar on a flat surface.
Bends ! Replace.
WARNING
Do not attempt to straighten a bent guide bar.
3. Check:
S Shift fork movement
(on its guide bar)
Unsmooth operation ! Replace the fork and
guide bar.
4. Inspect:
S Shift cam grooves
Wear/Damage/Scratches ! Replace.
S Shift cam segment 1
Damage/Wear ! Replace.
S Shift cam bearing 2
Pitting/Damage ! Replace.
5. Measure:
S Axle runout (main and drive)
Use a centering device and dial gauge 1 .
Out of specification ! Replace.
Runout limit:
0.08 mm
