STEERING HEAD

REMOVAL

1. Remove:
S Ring nut (lower) 1
Use the ring nut wrench 2 .
Ring nut wrench:
90890-01403
WARNING
Support the lower bracket so that it may not
fall down.

INSPECTION

1. Wash the bearing and bearing races with a sol-
vent.
2. Inspect:
S Bearings
S Bearing races
Pitting/Damage ! Replace.
Bearing race replacement steps:
S Remove the bearing races on the head pipe us-
ing long rod 1 and the hammer as shown.
S Install the new races.
NOTE:
Always replace bearings and races as a set.
CAUTION:
If the bearing race is not fitted squarely, the
head pipe could be damaged.
