Checking the Unit Pre-Assembly

Checking the Unit Pre-Assembly
Please read all sections leading up to the procedures, paying close attention to any cautions
and notes included. For information about system requirements and capacities, see the
Specifications
The unit is shipped fully assembled. There is nothing to install inside the chassis so removing
the cover is not necessary. Modules, security key, and compact flash are provided in separate
packaging and not installed.

Unpacking the Equipment

NOTICE
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD). The modules and components are static-sensitive. Handle
the modules by the edges only and keep them in their protective bags until they are to be
installed. Do not bend or touch the component pins or subject them to a static charge. When
working with the modules, use a properly terminated anti-static wrist strap and cover the
work surface with the bag that protected the module during shipping. Any static charge (no
matter how small) must be discharged from the body before touching the modules or other
components. The warranty for this equipment does not cover damage caused by static or
mishandling. Modules or components damaged in such a manner will not be replaced.
Unpack the equipment and inspect the equipment chassis and all accompanying parts following

Check all circuit module assemblies as follows:
a. Check each module to ensure there is no shipping foam or tape attached.
b. Inspect each module for shorted components.
c. Return all modules to their protective bags until they are ready to be installed in the
chassis.
Check that the protective covers over the module bays are in place. These covers
protect debris or other foreign matter from entering the system and possibly harming the
internal components. These covers should remain in place until you are ready to install a
module.
