5 Slide the cover into place over the terminal block.

6 Connect the cables to the DC source voltage, using hardware appropriate to the installation site and
following local and national electrical codes.
7 Energize the DC circuit.
Leave the ESD strap permanently connected to the rack, so that the strap is always available when you
need to handle ESD-sensitive components.

Installing a Summit X480 Series Switch

The Summit X480 series switch fits into a standard 19-inch equipment rack. The provided rack-
mounting brackets are adaptable to either two-post or four-post mounting.
The installation process includes the following tasks:
1 Install the switch in the rack.
2 (Optional) Install a VIM2 versatile interface module.
3 Install one or two power supplies and connect power cables.
4 Connect network interface cables.
