OLR must be performed by an experienced and suitably trained system adminis-
trator, and it must be carried out only if the drive configuration and the drives and
OLR shuttles being used all meet defined conditions.
Criteria to be met by the system administrator

Sound knowledge of the operating system (Reliant UNIX/SINIX V5.42)

Sound knowledge of system administration

Experience of using the graphical interface of the HW configuration tool Config
under SINIX/windows (henceforth referred to as XConfig), or
–
Experience of using the alphanumeric interface of Config under the SYSADM
menu item

Hard drive and configuration criteria

" hard disk drives must be housed in a 3 1

Drive mirroring
–
All the hard drives in the SCSI chain must be fully mirrored by matching
hard drives in another SCSI chain (OLR group definition in the /etc/dktab
file).

All the devices in both SCSI chains must be hard disk drives, and the
drives must all be housed in a 3 1

Allocation of the two SCSI chains to the associated controllers must be
performed with XConfig or Config.
