Attaching a printer (or modem) using a TC4 terminal controller
Figure 11: Terminal controller TC4 (CT45) and TC4P (CT40) - (optional) -
Using a TC4 terminal controller with a V.24 port you can attach up to four serial
devices (e.g. printers or modems) to the system unit.
Connecting terminals and printers to the TC4P terminal controller
The TC4P terminal controller has four interfaces for RJ45 connectors. Per controller
you can attach up to 4 terminals and printers to the system unit via V.24, V.11, IHSS
or IMD interfaces. Mixed operation using the various interface types on a single
controller is possible.
Ê
Attach the connecting cable and power cord to the peripheral device as
described in the associated operating manual.
Insert the RJ45 connector on the terminal connecting cable into one of the four
Ê
interfaces (ports) of the controller.
You can determine the interface type with the aid of SYSADM (alphanu-
i
meric monitor) or Config (graphical monitor). Also refer to the manuals
"System Administration and Hardware Configuration Using the SYSADM
User Interface" and "Hardware Configuration with Config under
SINIX/windows".
The interfaces of the controller are incremented from left to right as port
1 – 4.
To find out the installed interface type for the four RJ45 ports, please refer to the
enclosed information leaflet on slot numbering and port assignment.
