Installing a VCCI Module in an XRE200 External Routing Engine

XRE200 External Routing Engines have two Virtual Chassis Control Interface (VCCI) module slots on the
front panel. The slots support 10/100/1000BASE-T RJ-45 and 1000BASE-X Gigabit Ethernet small
form-factor pluggable (SFP) VCCI modules. You can use this installation procedure for both types of VCCI
modules.
VCCI modules are offline field-replacable units (FRUs).
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to install a VCCI module:
A Phillips (+) screwdriver, number 2
CAUTION:
insert a VCCI module.

2. If the VCCI module slot has an installed VCCI module, remove the module. See
Module from an XRE200 External Routing Engine" on page
3. Taking care not to touch VCCI module components, pins, leads, or solder connections, remove the
module from its bag.
4. Ensure the VCCI module is properly aligned with the VCCI module slot. When the module faceplate is
properly aligned, the port numbers on the face plate read 0 through 3 from left to right.
5. Insert the VCCI module into the VCCI module slot, and gently push the module all the way into the
slot until the module is seated flush in the slot.
CAUTION:
the VCCI module slot. If backpressure is preventing the module from seating flush
in the module slot, remove the module from the slot and retry the procedure, taking
care to ensure the module is properly aligned with the module slot.
6. Tighten both screws on the VCCI module using your fingers. If additional tightening is necessary, tighten
the screws using the screwdriver.
