Removing an AC or DC Power Supply from an XRE200 External Routing
Engine
You can install two AC or DC power supplies in an XRE200 External Routing Engine. You can remove and
replace a single AC or DC power supply without powering off the external Routing Engine or disrupting
external Routing Engine functions.
Before you remove a power supply from the external Routing Engine:
Ensure you understand how to prevent electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage. See
Electrostatic Discharge Damage" on page
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to remove a power supply:
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap
To remove a power supply from the external Routing Engine (see
1. Attach the electrostatic discharge (ESD) grounding strap to your bare wrist, and connect the strap to
the ESD point on the chassis.
2. If you are removing an AC power supply, disconnect the power cord from the AC appliance inlet on
the AC power supply faceplate.
If you are removing a DC power supply, disconnect the (-) DC power source cable -48V (input) from
the power supply, then disconnect the positive (+) DC power source cable RTN (return) from the same
power supply.
3. Push the power supply faceplate latch to the right while pulling the power supply away from the external
Routing Engine to release the ejector lever. Stop pulling the power supply once the lever is released.
4. Taking care not to touch power supply components, pins, leads, or solder connections, place one hand
under the power supply to support it. Grasp the power supply handle with your other hand and pull
the power supply completely out of the chassis.
