This command shuts down the backup external Routing Engine gracefully. A message displays on the
console confirming that the backup external Routing Engine has halted.
3. Shut down the primary external Routing Engine from the external management device by issuing the
request system halt operational mode CLI command. This command shuts down the external Routing
Engine gracefully and preserves system state information. A message displays on the console confirming
that the operating system has halted.
You will see the following output (or something similar, depending on the hardware being shut down)
after you enter the command:

the external Routing Engine.
4. Observe the power supply LED and verify that it is unlit. Repeat this step for all external Routing Engines
in the EX8200 Virtual Chassis.
