To install an HDD module in an external Routing Engine (see
1. Taking care not to touch HDD module components, pins, leads, or solder connections, remove the new
HDD module from its bag.
2. If the switch is powered on, at least one HDD module must be installed. Perform this step only when
an HDD module is installed in the other HDD module slot or when the external Routing Engine is
powered off.
If you need to remove an HDD module in the HDD module slot, remove the HDD module. See
an HDD Module from an XRE200 External Routing Engine" on page
3. Ensure the HDD module is properly aligned with the HDD module slot. The HDD module faceplate
should be aligned so that the screws are aligned with the top of the HDD module slot.
4. Insert the HDD module into the HDD module slot, and gently push the module all the way into the slot
until the module is seated flush in the slot.
CAUTION:
the HDD module slot. If backpressure is preventing the HDD module from seating
flush in the HDD module slot, remove the HDD module from the slot and retry the
procedure, taking care to ensure the HDD module is properly aligned with the HDD
module slot.
5. Tighten both screws on the HDD module using your fingers. If additional tightening is necessary, tighten
the screws using the screwdriver.
