Removing a Fan Module from an XRE200 External Routing Engine
XRE200 External Routing Engines have two fan modules on the rear panel. The fan modules are
hot-removable and hot-insertable field-replaceable units (FRUs): You can remove and replace them without
powering off the external Routing Engine or disrupting external Routing Engine functions.
Ensure that you have the following parts and tools available to remove a fan module:
An antistatic bag or an antistatic mat
To remove a fan module from an external Routing Engine (see
1. Place the antistatic bag or the antistatic mat on a flat, stable surface.
2. Pull the latch on the fan module faceplate toward the fan and gently pull the fan module toward you.
The fan module will unlatch.
WARNING:
you slide the fan module out of the chassis—the fan might still be running.
3. When the fan stops spinning, grasp the fan module tightly to avoid dropping it and remove the fan
module from the fan module slot.
4. Place the fan module in the antistatic bag or on the antistatic mat.
To avoid injury, do not touch the fan with your hands or any tools as
