5. Toner Supply Mechanism
If the toner density is detected too low through
the ID sensor, the toner supply clutch is turned
on and starts turning the toner supply drive
gear.
Then it turns the toner supply roller gear.
Toner catches in the grooves on the toner
supply roller. Then, as the grooves turn past
the opening, the toner drops into the
development unit.
The toner agitator which is contained in the
toner cartridge transports toner to the toner
supply section in the toner tank.
6. Toner Supply Mode
This copier has two ways of controlling the amount of toner supplied and can be
changed by using SP mode "30".
1. Detect Supply Mode (P-mode)
The main CPU checks toner density by directly detecting the image density. If
toner density is too low, the toner supply clutch is turned on and toner is supplied.
The check is performed at the beginning of the first copy cycle after the main
switch is turned on, and at every 10th copy after that.
2. Fixed Supply Mode (C-mode)
When the fixed supply mode is selected, a fixed amount of toner is added every
copy cycle as determined by DIP SW101-3 and -4.
