13. Scanner movement is out of control
Problem
When the main power
switch is turned on, the
scanner is driven to the
return position.
During copying, the
scanner is driven to the
return position.
1. Measure the power source voltage when the main switch is on.
2. If the voltage is lower than 160 V, raise the voltage.
3. Check the copy.
1. Check the encoder output voltage CN405-2 and CN405-3 on the optics
control board.
2. Check the same procedure with the connector (5P) of the scanner
motor.
3. If there is no problem, replace the optics control board.
1. When the power becomes too low (less than 160V) the reset signal
cannot be transmitted to the optics control board. This causes the
scanner to be driven to the return position.
1. Scanner motor malfunction.
2. Optics control board malfunction.
