3. Determine if the I/O processor is in an SPD Migrated Tower. Examine the Bus number (BBBB) in the
Direct Select Address (DSA) of the SRC. See "Breaking down the SRC" on page 63 for help in locating
the DSA and the bus number.
Is the bus number in the SRC greater than or equal to 0004 AND less than or equal to 0017
(hexadecimal), or 4 through 23 (decimal)?
v Yes: Continue with the next step.
v No: The I/O processor is in a system unit or I/O tower other than an SPD Migrated Tower. Perform
"Bus PIP IOP-02, Isolate to failing I/O adapter resource" on page 90. If Bus PIP IOP-02 directs you
to return to this procedure, then return to the procedure which sent you here.
This ends the procedure.
4. The I/O processor is in an SPD migrated tower. You will need to perform Bus-PIP5 for SPD migrated
towers. Go to "Bus-PIPs for migrated towers" on page 77.

Instructions for Models 800, 810, 825, 870, and 890
1. If you do not have a frame ID from either the Service Action Log (SAL) or a Direct Select Address
(DSA), perform the following:
a. Obtain the bus number by performing one of the following:
v Record the Direct Select Address (DSA), which is word 7 from the SAL display. The bus number
is the 4 leftmost characters.
v Search the Product Activity Log (PAL) for the SRC that sent you here, and select Display —>
Additional information. The DSA is word 7 of the SRC, and the bus number is the 4 leftmost
characters.
v Get the SRC from either the control panel or the main store dump display. The DSA is word 7 of
the SRC and the bus number is the 4 leftmost characters.
b. Record the bus number, then continue with the next step of this procedure.
2. The I/O processor is in a system unit or I/O tower. Perform "Bus PIP IOP-02, Isolate to failing I/O
adapter resource" on page 90, which will help you isolate to a failing I/O adapter resource. If Bus PIP
IOP-02 directs you to return to this procedure, then return to the procedure which sent you here.
