v Yes: The failing items that FI code FI01106 identified are not failing. The load-source disk unit may
be failing. Use the original SRC and exchange the failing items, starting with the highest probable
cause of failure (see the failing item list for this reference code in the System reference code
tables). If the failing item list contains FI codes, see "Failing items" on page 249 to help determine
part numbers and location in the system.
This ends the procedure.

Intermittent PIPs

For use by authorized service providers.
Use these procedures to correct an intermittent problem, if other problem analysis steps or tables sent you
here. Only perform the procedures that apply to your system.
Read all safety procedures before servicing the system. Observe all safety procedures when performing a
procedure. Unless instructed otherwise, always power off the system or expansion tower where the FRU is
located, (see Power on/off the system and logical partitions) before removing, exchanging, or installing a
field-replaceable unit (FRU).
DANGER
To prevent power from switching on automatically during service procedures, select manual or secure mode
on the system unit control panel or disconnect the cables that connect to J15 and J16 on the frame being
serviced. (RSFTD211)
Intermittent PIP procedures:

INT-PIP3 External noise on AC voltage lines

INT-PIP5 External noise on twinaxial cables
INT-PIP7 Electromagnetic interference (EMI)
INT-PIP8 Grounding
INT-PIP9 Utility power and battery power units
INT-PIP14 Station protectors
INT-PIP16 Licensed internal code (LIC)
INT-PIP18 PTFs not installed
INT-PIP20 Performance problems
INT-PIP24 Service processor data collection
INT-PIP3 External noise on ac voltage lines: For use by authorized service providers.
Electrical noise on incoming ac voltage lines can cause various system failures. The most common source
of electrical noise is lightning.
