Building a two-unit stack with a linear-topology trunk using stack
interactive-setup
The interactive-setup utility generates the linear-topology trunk option only when either of the following conditions is met:
• All ports of the linear-topology trunk are connected.
• The active controller has a linear-topology trunk configuration.
The following procedure uses an ICX 7250 stack as an example. A two-unit ICX 7250 stack has two potential linear-topology
trunks, (x/2/1 to x/2/4) and (x/2/5 to x/2/8).
Complete the following steps to configure a two-unit linear-topology trunk using stack interactive-setup.
1. Connect cables between the two units. (In this example, four cables are used as shown in

ICX7250# configure terminal
ICX7250(config)# stack enable
ICX7250(config)# exit
3. On the same unit, run the stack interactive-setup utility.

The system detects that all ports of a candidate linear-topology trunk are connected. Then it displays an option for you
to choose a ring (y) or a linear-topology trunk (n).
4. When prompted by the system, enter n to create a linear-topology trunk.
The unit running stack interactive-setup reloads the other unit as a stack member.
A two-unit stack forms when the member boots up and joins the stack.
5. Enter the write memory command to save the learned configuration.
