ENGINE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
SERVICE INFORMATION
GENERAL
• Support the engine using a jack or other adjustable support to ease of engine mounting bolt
removal.
• When removing/installing the engine, tape the frame around the engine beforehand for frame pro-
tection.
• The following components require engine removal for service.
- Crankshaft/piston/cylinder (page 12-5)
• The following components can be serviced with the engine installed in the frame.
- Kick starter/drive pulley/driven pulley/clutch (page 9-6)
- Final reduction (page 10-5)
- Alternator/starter (page 11-4)
- Cylinder head/valve (page 8-7)
- Water pump (page 6-9)
- Carburetor (page 5-8)
- Oil pump (page 4-4)
