■ CHANGING A FLAT
TIRE
NOTICE
Do not use a tire sealant if your
vehicle is equipped with a tire
pressure monitor. The tire
sealant can damage tire
pressure monitor sensors.
CAUTION
Lifting a vehicle and getting
under it to do maintenance or
repairs is dangerous without
the appropriate safety
equipment and training.
The jack provided with your
vehicle is designed only for
changing a flat tire and should
only be used for that purpose.
If the jack is used for anything
else, you or others could be
badly injured or killed.

CAUTION
Avoid further tire and wheel
damage by driving very slowly
to a level place and stopping.
Turn on your hazard warning
flasher.
Changing a tire can cause
injury. The vehicle can slip off
the jack and injure you or other
people.
CAUTION
(Continued)
To help prevent the vehicle
from moving while changing
the flat tire:
• Park on a firm, level surface.
• Set the parking brake firmly.
• Place the automatic gear shift
in P (Park), or the manual
gear shift in 1 (First) or
R (Reverse).
• Make sure that the transfer
case is in a drive gear and not
in N (Neutral). Otherwise, the
vehicle will be free to roll even
if the automatic transmission
is in P (Park) or the manual
transmission is in gear.
• Turn off the engine.
