Instrumentation and Controls
If the light comes on while you
are driving, pull over and stop
carefully.
The brake pedal may be harder to
push or it may go closer to the
floor. It may take longer to stop.
If the light stays on, have the vehi-
cle towed for service. The brake
system should be inspected right
away.
This light also comes on when you
set your parking brake while the
ignition is on.
The light stays on until the ignition
is turned off or the parking brake is
fully released.

If it stays on after the parking brake
is fully released, it means you may
have a brake problem.
See "Parking Brake" in Section 3 for
information on how to properly
set and release the parking brake.
CAUTION
Driving with the brake warning
light on can lead to an accident.
If the light comes on while you
are driving, pull over and stop
carefully.
If the light stays on, have the
vehicle towed for service. The
brake system should be inspect-
ed right away.
ABS
Antilock Brake System Warning
Light
This light should come on briefly
as you start your engine, as a check
to show you it is working properly.
If it doesn't come on, then have it
fixed so it will be ready to warn
you if there is a problem.
If it stays on or comes on while you
are driving, there may be a prob-
lem with this system.
