■ HILL START ASSIST

When the vehicle is stopped on a
grade, this feature prevents the
vehicle from rolling, either forward
or rearward, during vehicle drive
off.
After the vehicle is stopped on an
incline, push the brake pedal
completely to the floor to activate
Hill Start Assist.
When the system activates, a
chime will sound and the HSA ON
(hill start assist on) message will be
displayed.
Note:
Releasing the brake pedal
slightly or applying the acceler-
ator pedal will disengage Hill
Start Assist.
To deactivate this feature and
continue driving, ease off the
brake pedal and within two
seconds press the accelerator
pedal.
When Hill Start Assist is active, the
driver might experience a "hard
pedal." This is normal and does
not affect safe brake operation.
The system will not activate under
the following conditions:
• The vehicle is traveling on a
downhill grade.
• The vehicle is stopped facing
downhill on a steep down
grade in a drive gear.
• The vehicle is stopped facing
uphill with the transmission in
R (Reverse).
