Seats and Restraints
• The front passenger seat is
occupied by a smaller person,
such as a child who has out-
grown child restraints or a very
small adult.
It is important to note that for
some children who have out-
grown child restraints and for
very small adults, the system
may or may not turn off the air
bags, depending upon the per-
son's seating posture and body
build.
Everyone in your vehicle who
has outgrown child restraints
should wear a safety belt prop-
erly, whether or not there is an
air bag for that person.
The front passenger's frontal and
seat-mounted side-impact air bags
(if equipped) are also turned off if
there is a critical problem with the
air bag system or with the passen-
ger sensing system.

The "off" indicator will stay on if
the front passenger's air bags are
deactivated.
When the system senses that a
person of adult size is sitting in the
front passenger seat, the front
passenger's frontal air bag will be
activated and the "on" indicator
will appear in the Passenger Air
Bag On/Off Indicator.
The seat-mounted side impact air
bag (if equipped) will also be reac-
tivated.
