Lap/Shoulder Belt

All seating positions are equipped
with lap/shoulder belts.
If you are using the center rear
seating position with a detachable
safety belt and the safety belt is
not attached, see the following
earlier in this section to reconnect
the safety belt to the mini-buckle:
• Rear Seats
- Unfolding the Seatback
. . . 152
The lap/shoulder belt should be
worn properly, as described
below.
To fasten the belt:
1. Adjust the seat and sit up
straight.
2. Pick up the latch plate.
3. Pull the belt across you. Do
not let it get twisted.
The lap/shoulder belt may lock
if you pull it out very quickly.
To unlock it, let the belt go
back slightly then pull it across
you more slowly.
When you pull the shoulder
portion of some passenger
lap/shoulder belts all the way
out, the child restraint locking
feature is engaged. The belt
can no longer be pulled out
until it is fully retracted. If this
happens unintentionally, let
the belt go back in all the way
and start again.
Engaging the child restraint
locking feature may affect the
passenger sensing system.
See "Passenger Sensing Sys-
tem" later in this section.
