Check the fluid only when the
engine is off, the vehicle is parked
on a level surface and the
transmission is cool enough for
you to place your fingers on the
transmission case.
1. Remove the filler plug.
2. Add fluid, if needed, to bring
the level up to the bottom of
the filler plug hole.
3. Reinstall the filler plug.
Make sure the plug is fully
seated.
See the "Recommended Fluids and
Lubricants" chart later in this
section to determine what kind of
fluid to use.

Hydraulic Clutch Fluid
(Manual Transmission)
The clutch linkage in your vehicle
is self-adjusting.
It is not necessary to regularly
check the clutch fluid unless you
suspect there is a leak in the
system.
Adding fluid will not correct a leak.
Fluid loss in this system could
indicate a problem. Have the
system inspected.
