2. Remove the retainer clip from
the driver's side hinge.
Store the retainer clip in a safe
place, like the glove box.

3. Raise the tailgate slightly and
remove the retaining cables
from both sides of the pickup
box.
- Pull the clips away from the
bolt heads while pushing the
cable bracket forward.
- When the larger part of the
hole on the bracket is over
the bolt, slide the bracket off
of the bolt.
4. With the tailgate partially
down, lift up on the passen-
ger's side and pull the tailgate
toward you.
5. Move the tailgate to the right
to release the driver's side.
Reverse the procedure to install
the tailgate. Make sure the tailgate
is secure.
To partially lower the tailgate:
1. Pull up on the handle located
near the center of the tailgate,
then lower the tailgate all the
way down.
2. Raise the tailgate slightly and
remove the retaining cable
from the passenger side of the
pickup box.
- Pull the clip away from the
bolt head while pushing the
cable bracket forward.
- When the larger part of the
hole on the bracket is over
the bolt, slide the bracket off
of the bolt.
