Starting and Operating Instructions
The locking front axle button is
located on the instrument panel to
the right of the transfer case
buttons.
Before the front axle can be
locked, the rear axle must be
locked.

To lock the front and rear axles, do
the following:
1. Place the transfer case in the
Four-Wheel Low Lock mode.
The rear axle will not lock in
another mode.
See "Full-Time Four-Wheel
Drive" earlier in this section for
more information.
2. With the vehicle moving less
than 26 km/h (16 mph), press
the locking rear axle button.
Wait for the indicator light to
stop flashing. When the indi-
cator light stays on solid, the
rear axle is locked.
3. With the vehicle stopped or
moving less than 26 km/h
(16 mph), press the locking
front axle button.
Wait for the indicator light to
stop flashing. When the indi-
cator light stays on solid, the
front axle is locked.
The locking axles will disengage if
the vehicle's speed exceeds
64 km/h (40 mph), if the vehicle
battery is low, or if the transfer
case is shifted out of the Four-
Wheel Low Lock mode.
NOTICE
Do not use the locking axle
while driving on pavement.
Otherwise, vehicle drivetrain
components could be
damaged.
The repairs would not be
covered by your warranty.
Use only the Four-Wheel High
transfer case mode when travel-
ing on pavement.
