• If the results of the check apply to any of the following, perform calibration using procedures (2) to (4).
• The image quality of some data or test page shows a problem related to, for example, reproducibility
of tone or hue.
• A great amount of time has passed since the calibration was last performed.
• A great amount of copies and prints was produced since the calibration was last performed.
• MFP's environmental conditions (temperature and humidity) were changed since the calibration was
last performed.
• A part around the engine such as drum, developer material, charger unit, transfer belt unit, and laser
unit was replaced or adjusted since the calibration was last performed.
(2) Enter adjustment mode [05], select code [878], and press the [START] button.
• Image quality control will be forcibly performed to correct variations in image contrast.
(3) Perform automatic calibration (γ adjustment) to correct variations in image density.
• Follow procedures (a) through (d) to perform automatic calibration (γ adjustment).
(a) Select the "PROGRAM" menu from the Control Panel and select "CALIBRATION".
(b) Select "CALIBRATION" and print a test chart.
(c) Place the printed test chart on the glass.
(d) Press the [START] button to perform calibration. When the calibration comes to an end, the
message "Wait Performing Auto Calibration" should disappear.
(4) Perform calibration with the printer controller to correct variations in image density.
• There are some calibration methods. They should be properly used to meet the level of the desired color
reproducibility.
* For the execution procedures of each calibration, refer to the Color Guide for each printer controller.
AutoCal: A simplified calibration method using the scanner function of the copier. Calibration is
usually carried out by this method. You can perform this calibration from the Control
Panel or the ColorWise Pro Tools of each printer controller. Note that the ColorWise Pro
Tools runs only on Windows or Macintosh OS 9.x / OS X Classic.
X-Rite DTP32: Accurate calibration is carried out using the auto scan color densitometer (X-Rite DTP32).
Use this method to standardize the color calibration or the color reproducibility of more
than one copier. X-Rite DTP32 is additionally required for the adjustment.
* There are other calibration methods besides the aforementioned methods. For details, refer to the
Color Guide of each printer controller.
ColorCal:
X-Rite DTP41:
EFI Densitometer (ED-100): The GA-1120, GA-1121, GA-1130, and GA-1131 provide this feature.
EFI Spectrometer (ES-1000): The GA-1121, GA-1130 (Option), and GA-1131 provide this feature.
The GA-1120, GA-1121, GA-1130, and GA-1131 provide this feature.
Accuracy is not as good as Auto Cal. When using ColorCal for the
first time, perform ColorCal from the ColorWisePro Tools to perform
"Calibrate Scanner".
The GA-1121, GA-1130, and GA-1131 provide this feature. Accuracy is
equivalent to that when DTP32 is performed
Accuracy is not as good as Auto Cal because it is a simplified densitometer.
Accuracy is equivalent to that when DTP32 is performed.
