1. General Adjustments – Copying and Printing
• After adjustment, perform automatic calibration (γ adjustment) and calibration in the same manner as in
procedure (2).
<Hint>
The transfer voltage increases as the set value is increased. It is usually desirable in each mode
that the set value be increased when using thick paper or paper with irregularities on its surface
while the set value be decreased when using thin paper.
After changing the set value, print and check the image quality.
If further image quality adjustments are still necessary, use the next procedure.
(4) Check the life in consumables (particularly the drum, developer material and fuser unit), and replace if
necessary.
* When any consumable parts are replaced, follow procedures (a) and (b) below.
(a) Enter adjustment mode [05], select code [879], and press the [START] button.
• Image quality control will take place and the image quality control value will be initialized.
(b) Perform automatic calibration (γ adjustment) and calibration in the same manner as in procedure (2).
* When a drum is replaced, reset the values of the drum life counter and the drum drive counter for the
replaced color to zeros.

* When any consumable parts are replaced, also check the slit glass of the laser optical unit, and thoroughly
clean if found fouled.
Cautions after the completion of the adjustment
Nothing in particular.
Remarks
• Enter the value mentioned in the procedures or one within the recommended value range for the adjustment as
much as possible. Otherwise, it may cause a loss in copier performance, including a poor image quality and a
decrease in consumable life.
• If printing using another type of paper causes a problem in image quality after adjustment, once return the
transfer set value (05-356 to 360, 05-315 to 317) to the default and then readjust.
• When replacing any consumable parts, refer to the relevant information in the SERVICE MANUAL and
SERVICE HANDBOOK.
