Procedures
* Perform the adjustment in accordance with the procedures below.
* Procedure (1) is used by the service technician, and by the user.
* Procedure (2) is used by the service technician only.
(1) Select the "BACKGROUND ADJUSTMENT" from the "COLOR" menu on the Control Panel and press the
[−] button to decrease the density of the background.
After the setting, make a copy and check the image quality.
If the back side of the original is still copied even if the density of the background is set to the lowest level,
the service technician should use the next procedure.
(2) Enter adjustment mode [05] and change the set value for code [698 to 707] to adjust the density of the
background.

* Set the value in about 10 increments while checking the copy until the optimum value is obtained.
<Note> "Eliminating the background color (decreasing the density of the background)" and "making the
highlighted area highly visible (increasing the density of the background)" are the adjustments
which are contrary to each other. When the background is made lighter, the highlighted area
sometimes becomes quiet.
Cautions after the completion of the adjustment
The adjustment may possibly cause the highlighted area to be quiet. Therefore, perform the adjustment
carefully, while checking the printout.
Remarks
Enter the value within the recommended value range mentioned in the procedures. Otherwise, it may cause a
loss in copier performance, such as image failure.
