If the problem persists, check for the following situations. An unsuitable original is placed on the Reversing Automatic Document Feeder. Unavailable paper with the equipment is used.

Open the Reversing Automatic Document Feeder. Open the reverse cover, and remove the original. Close the Reversing Automatic Document Feeder.

Lower the shutter of the paper exit portion to open it. Remove the paper. Open the Bridge Unit cover. When the Hole Punch Unit MJ-6101 is installed, proceed to step 7.

Return the Hole Punch Unit to its original position, and close the front cover. Open the upper cover of the Finisher until it is locked. Remove the jammed paper.

    1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Paper jam in the Saddle Stitch unit (optional) Saddle Stitch unit is in the inside of the Saddle Stitch Finisher MJ-1030. Open the front cover of the Finisher. Slide the green handle toward the right, and remove the jammed paper.

    1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Paper jam in the Hanging Finisher MJ-1031 (optional) Be careful not to let your fingers be caught between the equipment and the Finisher (optional). This could injure you. Separate the Finisher from the equipment. Press the lever to unlock the Finisher and slowly separate it from the equipment, placing both of your hands on the front and back of the Finisher.

Move the Finisher slowly toward the equipment, placing both of your hands on the front and the back of the Finisher. Clearing a paper jam caused by a wrong paper size setting A paper jam occurs when there is a mismatch between the size of the paper in a drawer or the bypass tray and the size configured for the drawer or the bypass tray in the equipment.
  • Page 34 1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Remove the jammed paper. Pull out the drawer indicated in the message and take out all the paper from the drawer. Close the drawer and turn on the main power switch. Press the [USER FUNCTIONS] button on the control panel.

Press the paper size button for the paper that was actually set in the drawer. Replace the paper taken out from the drawer on step 3. Press the [USER FUNCTIONS] button to return to the basic menu.
  • Page 36 1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Remove the jammed paper. Take out all the paper from the bypass tray. Turn on the main power switch. Replace the paper in the bypass tray and set the paper size. Place the original and resume copying. When “POWER FAILURE”...

With the size indicated on the touch panel, check which paper size is registered for the drawer. Place the same size paper as the paper size indicated in the message. The job is resumed.
  • Page 38 1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Jam when printing from the printer (using the bypass tray) Paper is not fed from the bypass tray for fax reception. Turn off the main power switch. Shutting down on the control panel is not possible. Remove the jammed paper.

When putting the staple cartridge, hold the green-labeled portion of the bracket securely so that the bracket will not move.

Pull the stapler handle on the Saddle Stitch unit toward you to unlock it. Then turn the stapler clockwise by 60 degrees.

Push the knob (2) to return it to its original position. Make sure that the lever (1) is latched on the shutter. Fit the staple cartridges.

Test stapling is necessary to prevent void stapling. Note that the test stapling starts automatically when the two requirements on 11 are met with the front cover of the Finisher closed. If the test stapling does not start, make sure again of the two requirements.

    When a toner cartridge runs out, the message “Install New *** (color name) toner cartridge” appears. Replace the toner cartridge following the procedure below when you see this message. To assure an optimal performance, we recommend that you use TOSHIBA toner cartridges. Never attempt to incinerate toner cartridges.

Some toner is still left in the toner cartridge while the message “Toner near Empty” is displayed. You can replace the toner cartridge with a new one, but if you do so, make sure to follow the procedure below.

If the message “Check staple cartridge” remains, repeat the procedure above from step 1 to 10. Refilling Saddle Stitch unit staples When the staples of the stapler in the Saddle Stitch Finisher MJ-1030 have run out, refill staples following the procedure below.

Insert each cartridge until it is caught by the latch and is fixed with a click. Unlock the stapler of the Saddle Stitch unit by pulling its handle toward you, and lower the stapler to its original position.

    1 TROUBLESHOOTING FOR THE HARDWARE Cleaning the Slit Glass and Main Charger Follow the procedure below to clean the slit glass and main charger. Cleaning the slit glasses Open the front cover. The slit glass cleaner is placed inside the front cover. Press and release the latch of the holder to take out the slit glass cleaner.

Insert the cleaner straight all the way in, and pull it out. Repeat this a couple of times for each color. For yellow: insert the cleaner until the arrow mark on the cleaner is hidden.

Insert the charger cleaner straight until it stops. Repeat steps 1 and 2 a couple of times. Clean all the chargers in the order of yellow, magenta, cyan and black.
