Procedures
* Perform the adjustment in accordance with the procedures below.
* Procedures (1), (3) and (4) are used by the service technician, and by the user.
* Procedure (2) is used by the service technician only.
(1) Check the print quality (test page or output of data sent from a PC) or a calibration record (configuration
page or test page) to determine whether or not calibration should be performed.
• A calibration status can be checked either by "using plain paper "or "using paper other than plain paper".
Since a test page is supposed to be printed on plain paper, the print results of plain paper can be checked by
the test page. When the print results of paper other than the plain paper, such as thick paper and special
paper, need to be checked, print any data on a desired paper and visually check the colors of a printout. Or,
print a configuration page to check the date when calibration was last performed in each paper mode.
* For PostScript printing with the GA-1120, GA-1121, GA-1130, and GA-1131, each media type uses its
own output profile and calibration set (correction data for color reproducibility). That is, the plain paper
calibration set is used to print on plain paper and the Thick Paper 1 calibration set is used to print on Thick
Paper 1.
* For PCL printing, the default output profile and the default calibration set for PostScript printing are used
for all printing regardless of media type.
* Compared with PCL, PostScript has more image quality adjustment features and shows better performance
in all aspects. It is recommended to use PostScript unless there is a need to use PCL (for example, when a
device only supports PCL.)
To check image quality of plain paper
Print a test page of a printer controller or any other data on plain paper to check the image quality. Or, print
a configuration page to check the date when calibration was last performed in each paper mode.
To check image quality of thin paper, Thick paper (1/2/3/4), special paper, and OHP film
Print any data (for example "RGB_02.ppt" or "RGB_01.doc" in the Windows Color Files\ENGLISH (each
language folder)\Clrfiles or English (each language folder)\Clrfiles folder in the User Software CD) on
desired paper and check the image quality. Or, print a configuration page to check the date when calibration
was last performed in each paper mode.
