Cautions after the completion of the adjustment
• Perform the automatic gamma adjustment respectively for copier and printer because a screen used for the
copier and printer is different.
• After making this adjustment, make sure to perform the automatic gamma adjustment (procedure (4)), or
images may not be output properly.
• Each profile of the printer controller is created based on the default screen. After the adjustment changes the
screen used for printing, the color balance may be changed from that before the adjustment.
• Stability of the image quality and calibration accuracy may be degraded because the adjustment changes patch
data used by the printer engine to maintain the image quality and actual printing environment. In addition,
incomplete gradation may be produced or reproduced brightness may be inverted.
• When procedure (2) sets the screen to "Pattern 1" (recommended value for the e-STUDIO211c/311c), printed
image may look rough in the skin-color, light red, and pink areas where the amount of magenta is high.
• When procedure (2) sets the screen to "Pattern 2", screen pattern may become obvious or moiré may occur in
the gray areas reproduced with several toners (gray areas reproduced with all C, M, Y, and K colors) or in the
grayish light blue areas.
• The adjustment may cause jaggy in text or thin lines, which may cause disconnected lines. When procedure (2)
sets the screen to "Pattern 2", jaggy may occur easily, which may result in degradation of image quality such as
elimination of background around the text.
