REPLACE THE BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS, AND DRAG LINK

NOTE: If a rod end or ball joint is worn out, we recommend replacing all of

6. Raise the front of the vehicle and support with jack stands.
7. Loosen the ball joint clamp on the steering sleeve.
8. Remove the cotter pin and ball joint nut.
9. Using a pickle fork, remove the ball joint from the
steering arm.
10. Remove the ball joint from the steering sleeve.
HINT: Count the number of turns required to
11. Install the new ball joint into the steering sleeve.
Screw it into the sleeve the same number of turns
counted in the previous step. Do not tighten the
ball joint clamp at this time.
12. Install the ball joint into the steering arm. Tighten the ball joint nut to 40-45 ft-lbs. and install a
new cotter pin.
13. Realign the front wheels.
NOTE: Refer to the

15. Reconnect the main battery connector., remove the blocks from the wheels, and test drive.
Maintenance, Service, and Repair

4. Place blocks under the rear wheels to prevent vehicle movement.

Always use a lifting strap, hoist, and jack stands, of adequate capacity
to lift and support the vehicle. Failure to use lifting and support devices
of rated load capacity may result in severe bodily injury.
