REPLACE THE TILT STEERING ASSEMBLY

6. There are two allen head set screws holding the
steering shaft to the universal joint. Only one of the
screws must be removed, the other only needs to
be loosened. Refer to the illustration. Loosen the
jam nuts and and remove/loosen the screws.
7. Disconnect the harness from the steering column.
8. Loosen the upper u-bolt and slide the steering
column up and out of the vehicle.
9. Install the steering column in reverse order.
10. Apply thread locking compound on the universal joint screws.
11. Tighten the upper u-bolt enough to prevent
the steering column from rotating without
crushing the column.
12. Reconnect the main battery connector.
13. Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
14. Release the parking brake and test drive
the vehicle.
1. Make sure the key-switch is in the "OFF" position, then remove
the key.
2. Place the forward-reverse switch in the center "OFF" position.
3. Set the park brake.
4. Place blocks under the rear wheels to prevent vehicle movement.
5. Unplug the main battery connector.
