Removing and replacing Tier 1 CRUs
Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If IBM installs a Tier 1 CRU at
your request, you will be charged for the installation.
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
Removing the cover
To remove the server cover, complete the following steps.
1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
2. If you are planning to install or remove a microprocessor, memory module, PCI
3. Press down on the left and right side latches and pull the server out of the rack
4. Loosen the thumbscrew that secures the cover at the back of the server.
5. Slide the two fan cover-release latches on the top of the fan door to the right;
6. Slide the server cover back until the locking tabs release.
7. Lift the server cover off the server and set the cover aside.
Attention:
turn on the server. Operating the server for extended periods of time (more than 30
minutes) with the cover removed might damage server components.
