1. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and "Installation guidelines"
on page 57.
2. Move the handle on the drive to the open position (perpendicular to the drive).
3. Pull the hot-swap drive assembly from the bay.
Note: To make sure that there is adequate system cooling, do not operate the
server for more than 2 minutes without either a hard disk drive or a filler panel
installed in each bay.
4. If you are instructed to return the hot-swap hard disk drive, follow all packaging
instructions, and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to
you.

Installing a hot-swap hard disk drive

To install the replacement 2.5-inch SAS or 3.5-inch SAS/SATA hot-swap hard disk
drive, complete the following steps.
Note: If you have only one hard disk drive, install it in the left or upper-left drive
bay.
