You may listen to the quality of your transmitted signal using the Monitor feature.
[ MONI ] switch
[ MONI ] knob
1. Press the [ MONI ] switch. The imbedded Red LED
will light up, indicating that the Monitor is turned on.
2. During transmission, rotate the [ MONI ] knob to ad-
just the audio level from the Monitor. Clockwise ro-
tation of this knob will increase the volume level.
3. To switch the Monitor off again, press the [ MONI ]
switch once more. The Red LED will go out, con-
firming that the Monitor is now disengaged.

If you are using the speaker for monitoring, in-
stead of headphones, excessive advancement
of the [ MONI ] control can cause feedback to
occur. Additionally, this feedback can cause the
VOX system to hang up in a loop, making it
impossible to return to receive. Therefore, we
recommend the use of headphones, if at all
possible, or the minimum usable setting of the
[ MONI ] control, if the speaker must be used.
Because the Monitor feature utilizes a sampling
of the transmitter's IF signal, it can be very
useful for checking the adjustment of the
Speech Processor or Parametric Equalizer on
SSB, and for checking the general signal qual-
ity on AM, FM, RTTY, and PKT.
