Configuration Support
Multiple levels of diskettes (configuration-support levels) are a ailable for
the 327 4 Control Units discussed in this guide. These levels allbw selection
of the diskettes (feature, system, and load) that will satisfy you
requirements.
To update your 3270 system with additional functions, you may have to
change your configuration-support level. Consult your IBM re resentative
for specific functions included in each configuration-support le el.
When new function is added to a configuration support, IBM se ds its
customers, at their request, an update-diskette package. The
Update~Diskette Installation Procedures (engineering changes)£ r
maintenance enhancements are in Chapter 7.
Note: An engineering change for a particular configuration su port can be
applied only to a control unit that is customized for the same c nfiguration
support.
Configuration Support A
Configuration Support A is shipped unless Configuration Suppo t B, C, or T
is specified. It is the base level of 3274 support, including base
f

a·. ttach.ed terminals,. plus support for solicitation of.summary man. tenance·
statistics from a 3274 Model IA, 2IA, 3IA, IC/SNA, 2IC/SNA, 3 C/SNA, and
51C/SNA through the use of Network Problem Determination A plication
(NPDA).
Configuration Support B (Not Available for Models lB and 21B)
Configuration Support B provides support for all 3270 functions included in
Configuration Support A, plus the ability to attach 3278 Display Station
Model 5's, and support for the following functions:
• Pacing of inbound message traffic (Models IA, 2IA, 3IA, IC/ NA,
2IC/SNA, 3IC/SNA, and 5IC/SNA)
• Automatic session recovery in both single- and tnultidomain networks
(IC/SNA, 21C/SNA, 31C/SNA, and 5IC/SNA)
• Host notification of changes in the power on/off status at at ached
terminals (Models IA, 2IA, 31A, lC/SNA, 2IC/SNA, 31C/SN , and
5IC/SNA).
