Appendix E. Color Convergence Procedure
The procedure in this appendix describes how to adjust the color
convergence on a 3279 Color Display Station during 3274 customizing. It
should be given to the person responsible for customizing the 327 4.
Note: In the U.S.A. and in Canada, if you are using a 3279 whose model
number ends in -1 (for example, S2A-1), this color convergence procedure
cannot be performed.
Operator Instructions
When a 3274 is customized with a 3279 Color Display Station, a pattern
similar to those shown in Figure E-1 will appear on the display screen after
step 3 of the Initial Customizing Procedure Form is performed. The pattern
allows you to adjust the convergence of the 3279 if needed. (Convergence
means superimposing one set of lines on another so that only one set of
lines is visible.) Allow a 10-minute warm-up period after the 3279 is
switched on before deciding whether convergence is needed.
Figure E-1 shows examples of unconverged and converged display screens.
An unconverged pattern will be multicolor; a converged pattern will appear
as white lines. Take care when converging your 3279, because improper
convergence will make it difficult to tell the colors of characters on the
outer edges of the display screen.
Convergence Procedure
Note: If your 3279 is properly converged, hold down the ALT key, press and
release the TEST key, and return to step 4 of the Initial Customizing
Procedure Form. If your 3279 is not properly converged, perform the
following procedure.
1.
Be sure that the center switch to the right of the display screen is in
the lower ( • •) position.
2.
Press the spacebar. A pattern will appear in the center of the display
screen.
3.
Use the cursor movement keys (
< - , - > ,
I ,
and
I )
to move one set of
lines until they converge with the other (color becomes yellow). The
movement of the lines is very slight and may not be perceptible at first.
