remaining characters on the first line (6 through 3) represent the
Category B terminals attached to ports BO through B7 on the 327 4.
(The actual number of Category B terminals shown will equal your
response to sequence number 111.)
The second line represents the status of each terminal on line 1. A 1
indicates that the terminal is powered on and communicating with the
3274. A 0 indicates that the port represented is not communicating with
a terminal; this is the case with the terminal attached to port A3 in the
diagram. This could be caused by the following:
The terminal connected to that port is powered off.
No terminal is connected to that port . .
A problem exists within the terminal connected to that port.
When a 0 status is indicated, you should:
8

3274 Models 1, 21, and 31
3274 Model 51C
If
a coaxial cable is not connected, the 0 is not a problem indication.
If
a coaxial cable is connected, the terminal is either powered off,
not connected to the other end of the coaxial cable, or not working
properly. Follow your local procedures to correct the problem.
A~
indicates that the 3274 was communicating with the terminal, but
no longer is, because of a problem within the terminal. Follow your
local procedures to correct the problem.
Any other lines should be ignored. They contain information used by
the IBM service representative for problem diagnosis.
5.

The word TEST· will disappear from the bottom left of the display

31C or 51C and have been given instructions for setting the Model 31C
or 51C switches, follow those instructions. Otherwise, proceed with
your usual work.
