Update-Diskette Installation Procedure for Configuration
Support A, B, or C
This procedure uses the update-diskette package and current diskettes to
incorporate maintenance enhancements into 3274 Control Units that have
been previously customized with Configuration Support A, B, or C. Contact
the person responsible for customizing your 327 4 before you perform this
procedure. It should take you less than 1 hour to complete this procedure.
Note:
If
you encounter any difficulty during this procedure, follow your
local procedure for problem recovery.
1.
Obtain the following:
a. Current system diskette (primary or backup), language diskette (if
applicable), and RPQ diskette(s) (if applicable)
b.
New system diskette
c.
New feature diskette
d. All RPQ diskettes, if any, included in the update package. If a
diskette.is included for a new RPQ, place it with the other RPQ
diskettes. If a new RPQ diskette is provided for an existing RPQ,
substitute it for the current RPQ diskette.
Note: Do not install this update unless (1) the configuration support (A, B,
or C) on the new system diskette is exactly the same as that shown on your
current system diskette, and (2) the release number on the new system
diskette is higher than the release number on your current system diskette.

Ensure that the 327 4 has power on.
Note: On locally attached 3274s, the rotary switch on the operator panel
must be in the Local/Offline position and the Local/Offline indicator must
be lit.
3. Insert the new feature diskette.

While holding the Alt IML Address switch in position 2, press and
release the IML pushbutton; then release the Alt IML Address switch.
Within 2 minutes, the 8 4 2 1 indic.ators will display a fl.ashing 1011
code.
5. Replace the new feature diskette with the current system diskette. Do
not press the IML pushbutton.
(If
you do press the IML pushbutton, go
back to step 3.) In approximately20 seconds, the 8 4 2 1 indicators will
display a flashing 1110 code.
6. Replace the current system diskette with the new feature diskette.

The following 8 4 2 1 indicator codes define the subsequent actions to be
taken. After a diskette is inserted, wait approximately 2 minutes for the
machine to complete its operation before interpreting the new status of
the 8 4 2 1 indicators.
