To implement an integrated network, a number of network planning rules must be
followed for all the INDeX's involved. All of the following rules must be followed.
Those rules are:
– Unique Directory Numbers :
Both user numbers and trunk numbers must not be repeated, they must be
unique within the network.
– Matching Group Numbers for Wide Area Paging :
Network paging is possible between matching group numbers. The local group
must include one remote user from the remote group for the paging function to
work. Removing the remote member from the local group provides a mechanism
to switch off network paging when not required by a group.
– Use the Fixed Number Length field in Routing Digits :
The Fixed number length field in the network routing table must be used.
– Leaving this blank disables integrated networking on that route. Use this
setting for non-INDeX switches and INDeX switches with earlier software
levels.
– For integrated network INDeX links, set it to equal the length of the remote
INDeX's node number plus extension number length.
– Identify Remote Users :
For integrated network links, user to user call routing can be set up without
requiring routing details in the appropriate network routing tables. This is done
using the Number at remote node option (see page 35).
– Route calls using Network Routing and not ARS :
Within Integrated Networking and INDeX Net networks, the INDeX's learn the
locations (nodes) of remote directory numbers and then handle the routing of
calls to those numbers via the network routing table.
– The use of ARS to route calls within a network will override many of the
Integrated Network and INDeX Net features and so should be avoided.
