Hot Desking Password Operation

Programming Manual
INDeX 9.1
Hot desking allows a display terminal to be shared by multiple users. Those
terminals display Log on and Log off options*.
Whilst a user is logged on, the terminal takes on their user settings and user
directory number. When a user is logged off, calls to their user directory number
follow their Divert All number if set, else they follow the user's associated Call
Control Plan.
The aspects of hot desking are:
1. Decide whether to require passcode usage for log on/log off.
2. Create hot desking user directory numbers
3. Set the required terminals to hot desk operation
4. Allocate the required terminals to Voice Mailboxes
*Note : Take care to distinguish Hot Desking devices from ACD devices that also
display Log on and Log off options.
INDeX Net allows hot desk users to log on to any INDeX in the network. When a hot
desk user moves between INDeX's, their user settings are moved with them across
the INDeX Net IP connection, see "Networking" on page 26.
For example: Whilst logged on at INDeX 'A', the user's directory number settings are
held on INDeX 'A' and they appear as a remote user to all other INDeX's. When the
user logs off and then logs on again at INDeX 'B', their user directory number
settings are transferred from INDeX 'A' to INDeX 'B' and they become a remote user
at INDeX 'A'.
Note that a user already logged on at one INDeX can repeat the log on process at
another INDeX in order to remotely log themselves off from the other INDeX. This
can also be done for a user who does not normally use hot desking, leaving their
normal extension with no associated user number.
Hot desking users can be required to enter their terminal passcode when logging
on. This provides protection from users logging on with the wrong user number.
1. From the Administration menu select System and then Facility options.
2. Select Hot Desk Passcode to select either yes or no.
